Historian James Shapiro, of Columbia University discusses the centuries old Shakespeare “authorship” controversy: the belief by thousands and thousands of people over the last four centuries that William Shakespeare, was, in fact, not responsible for writing the plays attributed to him. The history of one of the modern world’s oldest conspiracy theories is the subject of Shapiro’s new book, Contested Will.
